Forged steel head, heat treated working ends produce fine grain structure and RC 53-58 Rockwell hardness value for safety, edge holding and toughness. Body coated with black enamel and the cutting edges in clear lacquer to deter rust. Hand sharpened, single bit edge and mattock blade. Top grade double bit American hickory handle, with eye section dried to below 10% moisture content to minimise shrinkage and axe head hydraulically seated onto handle with a serrated PVC wedge.
