The Kestrel 5400FW WBGT Fire Weather Meter Pro is a complete handheld fire weather station and WBGT heat safety meter.
The Kestrel 5400FW measures and reports temperature, humidity, wind speed, and WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) for accurate heat stress and environmental monitoring in sports, military, and industrial settings.
In addition, the 5400FW includes advanced fire-weather features such as Fine Dead Fuel Moisture (FDFM) and Probability of Ignition (PIG) — critical indices used by wildland firefighters to evaluate ignition risk and fire behaviour potential in the field. The 5400FW now includes Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD). VPD quantifies the gap between the moisture currently in the air and the maximum moisture the air can hold at saturation. This measurement reveals the atmosphere’s drying potential—one of the most important drivers of fuel moisture (FM). Because FM is fundamental to wildfire behaviour and management, being able to estimate it accurately in the field—without relying on time-consuming laboratory analysis—marks a major operational advancement.
Lightweight and simple to use, with a large sunlight-readable graphing display. Flashing lights and a buzzer alert you when heat conditions are not safe. Data logging feature creates a time stamped record for documentation purposes.
Includes a rotating vane mount to attach to any standard tripod to convert it into a quick-deploy heat safety and weather monitoring station.
LiNK connects the 5400FW to mobile devices and computers though Bluetooth.
